At the NIHR HealthTech Research Centre (HRC) in Sustainable Innovation, we are committed to ensuring that innovation in healthcare is equitable, inclusive and designed with, and for, diverse populations. Our aim is to improve health outcomes for all communities by supporting the development of technologies that reflect the needs of the people who will use them.
Research inclusion is embedded throughout our work. We recognise that different perspectives strengthen research and innovation, helping us develop better technologies, improve participation in research and address health inequalities.
That’s why we are committed to creating an inclusive culture for our staff, researchers, innovators, patients and public contributors, where everyone feels valued, respected and able to contribute. Our approach is built around two key priorities:
- Creating an inclusive research culture by promoting equality, diversity and inclusion across our workforce, partnerships and ways of working.
- Using data and evidence to drive improvement, helping us understand who we engage with, identify gaps and take meaningful action to improve representation and inclusion.
Through collaboration with partners across the public sector, healthcare, academia, industry and the NIHR, we are helping to build a more inclusive research system and support innovation that delivers meaningful benefits to communities across the UK.
As our Centre develops, we will continue to strengthen our approach to research inclusion, ensuring equity remains at the heart of how we work, collaborate and deliver impact.
