Professor Nick Kennedy is Theme Lead for Digital Innovation, Data and AI at the Exeter HealthTech Research Centre, a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Chief Research Information Officer at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS FT and Senior Investigator Fellow at the Exeter Biomedical Research Centre. He undertook his postgraduate training in Adelaide, South Australia and Edinburgh, UK, where he also obtained a PhD. His research interests include the use of routinely collected health data in research as well as inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), particularly in understanding treatment response in IBD. He is a member of the UK IBD genetics consortium, current chair of the British Society of Gastroenterology IBD clinical research group, and part of the management group of the South West Secure Data Environment for Research and Development.
